I am an integrative psychotherapist practising in Hampstead, North London, and Wimpole Street, Central London. I hold an MA in Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

My integrative approach means I draw from a range of therapeutic perspectives, including psychodynamic, person-centred, and cognitive-behavioural therapy, so that I can tailor our work to your unique needs and goals. Rather than following a single method, I adapt to what will be most helpful for you.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy. Before anything else, you need to feel safe, understood, and free from judgment and that is what I prioritise in every session. Whether you're facing a current crisis, working through long-standing difficulties, or simply seeking personal growth, I offer a confidential space where you can explore what matters most to you.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, trauma, and loss. I also offer couples therapy and specialist support for professionals navigating work-related stress and leadership challenges.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, and that's completely understandable. I'm here at Jackie Maher Psychotherapy to make the process as comfortable as possible, whether you choose to meet in person at either of my London locations or prefer the flexibility of online therapy.

My Mission

I believe that real change is possible, not by fixing what is broken, but by understanding what developed for good reason. Our difficulties are rarely random; they are adaptations, and they carry meaning. Therapy, at its best, is the process of making that meaning visible.

I work with individuals who are ready to look honestly at their inner lives, whether they are in acute difficulty, at a crossroads, or simply aware that something is quietly not working. My approach is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic, attachment-based and somatic frameworks, always tailored to the person in front of me.

My Vision

I want the people I work with to leave therapy not dependent on it, but equipped with a greater self-awareness, more honest relationships, and a clearer sense of who they are and what they need. Seeking psychological support is not a last resort. It is an act of intelligence and self-respect.

How I work

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is the way we meet. I offer three ways of working, so that practical life doesn't become a barrier to getting the support you need. Whatever the format, the quality of attention and the depth of the work remain the same.

In Person

For those who want the full presence of face-to-face therapy, I see clients at my practices in Hampstead (NW3) and Wimpole Street, Marylebone (W1). Sessions are weekly, at a regular time, which provides the consistency and rhythm that good therapeutic work depends on.

In-person therapy tends to suit people who value the dedicated space of a consulting room, somewhere separate from the rest of their lives, held and private.

Online

I offer therapy via Zoom for clients who are based elsewhere in the UK, travelling frequently, or who simply find online
sessions more manageable alongside demanding schedules.

Online therapy is not a compromise. Many clients find that working from a familiar, private space supports a particular kind of
openness. Sessions are the same length and held with the same regularity as in-person work

Hybrid

Some clients choose to move between in-person and online sessions depending on their week. This works well for those with
unpredictable travel or work patterns, particularly executives and professionals whose schedules don't always allow for
a fixed location.

Hybrid sessions are arranged by mutual agreement and work best when there is an established therapeutic relationship to
draw on.
